About Me

During his emerging journey as a jazz musician, pianist, and bassist, Ryan Tomov— a graduate of the University of Auckland’s Jazz Programme—has begun carving out a distinct, independent voice defined by curiosity, versatility, and a drive to keep pushing his musical boundaries. He is active across a wide range of musical scenes in Tāmaki Makaurau, writing and performing with the psychedelic jazz group Fruju Peak (including a performance at the Cross Street Music Festival), and exploring Brazilian styles through the samba trio Tāmaki05 alongside Finn McNeill and Alex Keatley. Ryan also performs with projects such as World Tandem, Waiwhai, and the Rangatuone Conduction Ensemble, reflecting his interest in diverse, collaborative sound worlds.

In addition to his performance work, Ryan organises The Loom jazz series at the Audio Foundation, curating lineups and fostering space for creative music in the city. He is eager to continue developing into a multifaceted and imaginative voice within the Aotearoa music scene.
