Fruju Peak
Fruju Peak are simultaneously the question, the answer, and the process of finding.
Formed in early 2022, Fruju Peak has been busily creating and experimenting within Jazz.
They draw inspiration from psychedelic music in its diverse forms: they aim to navigate the boundaries of familiar styles through their unique and sometimes deconstructive approach to composition.
As key contributors to the Karangahape/CBD music scene, our residencies on rotation featured spots such as East Street Hall and Norma Taps, while also opening for acclaimed artists such as Joe Kaptein and Leonard Charles. Fruju Peak have been featured and supported by Cross Street, performing on the streets and appearing at the 2024 Cross Street Festival.
The core lineup consists of Iggy Namaruci (saxophones), Ryan Tomov (keyboards), Orlando Cooper (bass) and Finn McNeill (drums).
